Hao WANG was born in 1973. He received his Ph.D. degree from Tianjin University in 2002. He was a post-doctoral in Shanghai JiaoTong University from 2002 and subsequently joined Shanghai JiaoTong University in 2004, where he was elected as an associate professor in 2004. He was a visiting scholar in the Institute of Computational and Engineering Mechanics, University of Stuttgart in 2006. In 2008, he was selected as a regular member of State Key Laboratory of Mechanical System and Vibration –a recognized top research institute in China. In year of 2009, he was appointed as the vice-director of Shanghai Key Laboratory of Auto-body Manufacturing and then he was elected as a full professor in 2011.
His research interests are mechanisms design, robotics and multi-body system dynamics, with a particular emphasis on the dynamics on manipulators and the applications to flexible manufacturing equipment. In recent years, he has published more than 40 research papers, and serves as the reviewer of many international journals, such as the Transaction of the ASME: Journal of Mechanical Design, Mechanism & Machine Theory, and Science of China. He won the best paper awards on the international conference ICIRA2008 and ICFDM2008.He has directed several projects from the National Science Foundation of China, Ministry of Education of China, and Science and Technology Committee in Shanghai. In recent years, he is in charge of the design of automatic positioning equipment for aircraft assembly, forging manipulators and robotic hemming systems. Some of the research outcomes have been put into real use in certain enterprises in Shanghai.
By his academic achievments, he won the ‘New Century Excellent Academic Research Talents’ award from the Ministry of Education of China in 2010, which is a top academic honor in China for excellent young scientist who is younger than 40 years old. In the same year, he received the SMC award for eminent young professors of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, which is a prize for about 10 young scientists each year in SJTU.
